Parent and Child Hand Sculpting

Class Description:
This family-oriented ceramics course is designed for parents and children to have fun creating together! Participants will be guided through hand-building techniques to create coil pots, pinch pots and slab-built pieces such as tea lights, cups, bowls, textured vases and creative sculptures. You will learn to apply beautiful glazes that will bring your creations to life!
The course fee applies to one parent/adult and one child. If you would like to register a second child, an additional, reduced fee of 10% will apply. Limited spots are available. Children must not be left unattended; parents are encouraged to participate with their child.
Inclusions: Inclusions: Price includes $50 materials fee to cover the cost of clay, glaze and firing services for the first 7kg of clay. Any additional clay bodies used are available for purchase in the studio. As a student you receive 10% discount off the studio firing rates($10 per kg for bisque firing & $12 per kg. for glaze firing). Adult students must have their own tools. Starter tool kits can be purchased on the first day of class at the studio for $25/kit (plus GST).
About the Teacher:
Monica Leitao is a Gold Coast–based ceramic artist whose love affair with clay began in childhood. She developed expertise in a wide range of clay bodies, glazes, decorative techniques, and firing processes through studying Advanced Diploma in Ceramics at South Bank TAFE in Brisbane.
Monica brings both her technical mastery and her warm, engaging personality to every piece she creates and every workshop she leads. As a passionate facilitator, she has shared her skills as a ceramics tutor at the Brisbane Institute of Art, as a touring artist with Flying Arts QLD, and through workshops and collaborations with numerous community groups.
Whether guiding beginners or mentoring advanced students, Monica delights in unlocking the creative potential of clay for makers at all levels.
